About Shannon

My name is Shannon Bamford.

I have called the beautiful Sunshine Coast home since 2010 after we made the decision to relocate our young family from the remote red dirt and spinifex of North West Western Australia to the seaside and rainforest.

My husband has until recently been working away while I have been here on the Sunshine Coast raising our two beautiful boys, he has now returned home for good also starting his own small business in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.  Our boys are growing up all too quickly and are now both at school full time at a local small primary school.  We also have our Staffordshire Bull Terrier Jinx who completes our family.

I grew up on a sheep farm in the Wheatbelt of Western Australia.  From a very young age I knew my life would involve animals in some way shape or form.  I think my mother had a huge amount to do with this since I grew up with every pet imaginable and spent many hours caring for injured and sick wildlife, when I was not doing this I was helping Dad on the farm and working with his dogs.

Subsequently I qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2001 and so began my journey into helping people and their pets.  I also at the age of 17 got my first dog of my own after leaving home, she was an English Staffordshire Bull Terrier.  Now she is the one I really blame for my passion in the field of dog behaviour.  At the tender young age of 17 I was very quickly taught some valuable lessons in dog behaviour!  I spent hours and hours attending puppy classes, pounding the oval up and down in obedience classes and attending agility classes and trials.  However there were some behavioural issues which I simply could not work out how to correct.  I called in countless professionals, which on the income of a uni student cost me a small fortune and did not solve the issues or make any sense to me.  So I then decided to take it upon myself to find the answers!

Over the coming years I spent time studying and gaining various qualifications in different areas of dog behaviour in order to find the answers I was searching for.  In going through this process and working in veterinary clinics as a veterinary nurse I discovered there were many more people out there who were in the exact same position I was initially.  They too were struggling to find anyone to help with these issues.  I then learnt something very important about myself, if an animal was in need I never gave up until I found a solution.

After having a break from the workforce to raise our human babies I am now back and have spread my wings to establish my own business with the aim to bring people and their dogs back into harmonious lives together.  There are many families out there struggling with their dogs behaviour, and it does not have to be this way.  It is my passion to help your family get back on track in order to allow a balance between the humans and dogs, this then allows you all to not only live a happy family life but to also include your dog in more of your everyday activities without any embarrassing behavioural issues.
